In some cases we may need your name and address, along with additional information, to provide you with the requested service.

The same applies in the event that we supply you with information materials at your request or if we respond to your inquiries. In these cases you will always be notified. Furthermore, we only save data you have transmitted to us automatically or voluntarily.

When you use one of our services, we typically only collect the data necessary to offer our services to you. We may request additional information but this is of a voluntary nature. Non-identifying data stored automatically

When you visit our website we store certain information for administrative and technical reasons. These are: browser type and version, date and time of your visit and IP address.

This data is anonymised and only used for statistics purposes or to improve our internet and online services.

This anonymised data is stored on secure systems - separately from personal data - and cannot be used to identify individuals. This means your personal data always remains protected.

When you visit our website we may store information on your computer in the form of cookies. Cookies are small files which an internet server transmits to your browser and saves to its hard drive. Only the internet protocol address is saved in this context – no personal data. This information saved in cookies allows our website to automatically recognise you the next time you visit, making it easier to use.

Of course you may also visit our website without accepting cookies. If you do not want your computer to be recognised the next time you visit, you can also block the use of cookies by changing your browser settings to “block cookies". Please refer to the help section of your browser for instructions. Blocking cookies may, however, limit the use of some areas of our website.

We also ask you not to submit information related to medical conditions, pregnancy, ethnicity, political views, philosophical or religious beliefs, membership in a union, physical or mental health or sexuality. The same applies to contents which could potentially violate the rights of third parties (e.g. copyrights, press law or general rights of others).

Use of the Matomo web analysis service (formerly PIWIK)

Our website uses the web analysis service Matomo. Matomo uses cookies for this analysis. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and enable the analysis of your use of the website.

The information generated by the cookies, for example time, location and the frequency at which you visit our website, including your IP address, is transmitted to our PIWIK server, where it is then stored. Your IP address is promptly anonymised during this process so you as the user remain anonymous to us. Newsletter with CleverReach

We use the double opt-in process for sending newsletters, meaning you will only receive a newsletter by email after first expressly confirming you wish to activate the newsletter service. We will then send a notification email and ask you to click a link in the email, confirming that you wish to receive our newsletter. When you subscribe to our newsletter we store your IP address and the date you subscribed. This data is stored solely for evidence purposes in the event that a third party has misused your email address to subscribe to the newsletter without your knowledge or consent. If at any time you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, you may withdraw your consent at no cost other than the base rate incurred for transmission.

Newsletters are sent using "CleverReach", a service provided by CleverReach GmbH & Co. KG, Rastede, Germany.

The email addresses of subscribers to our newsletter as well as the other data explained in this notice are saved on CleverReach servers. CleverReach uses this information to send and analyse the newsletter on our behalf. However, CleverReach is not authorised to use the data of our newsletter subscribers to contact them personally, or to disclose this data to third parties.

The newsletters contain a so-called "web-beacon", i.e. a file the size of a pixel which is retrieved from the CleverReach server when the newsletter is opened. As part of this retrieval, technical information such as information about your browser and your system, as well as your IP address and the time are collected first. This information is used to make technical improvements to our services using the technical data or the target groups and their reading behaviours using their retrieval locations (which can be determined using the IP address) or access times. The statistical enquiries also include determining whether the newsletters have been opened, when they were opened and which links have been clicked on. Although this information could be matched with the specific newsletter subscribers for technical reasons, neither we nor CleverReach intend to monitor individual users. Instead we use the analysis to determine the reading behaviours of our users and to tailor our content to them, or to send different content based on the interests of our users.

Security

We have implemented technical and administrative safeguards to protect your personal data against loss, corruption, manipulation and unauthorised access. All of our employees and service providers are obligated to comply with the applicable data protection laws.

Any personal data we collect and process is encrypted before it is transmitted. This means your data cannot be misused by third parties. Our safeguards are continuously being improved and our privacy notices are routinely updated. Please ensure you have the latest version.

Rights of data subjects

Please contact us at any time to obtain information about which of your personal data we store or if you wish to have it corrected or erased. You also have the right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR), to object to processing (Article 21 GDPR) and the right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR).

In these cases, please contact us directly.

Changes to this privacy policy

We reserve the right to change our privacy policy should this become necessary on the basis of new technology. Please ensure you have the latest version. We will publish a notice on our website if substantial changes have been made to this privacy policy.
